Specialist translation
The internet is great – but a book is a book!
Translation of specialised literature
I’ve been a specialist translator for more than 40 years and have translated countless instruction manuals, brochures, data sheets, annual reports, sustainability reports and all kinds of other documents.
But – a book is still a book. There’s something especially gratifying about being entrusted with translating a whole book. It’s a slower pace and a bit less stress, which creates a whole different space for thought; you can polish your formulations and rewrite – over and over. A specialist translator’s works rarely live longer than until a new version of the product is launched, while a book can remain on personal bookshelves and in public libraries and be consulted for decades.
So far, I’ve translated these specialised and popular science books:
- The Scientific Revolution: A very short introduction, EN-SE 2012, 196 p
- Energy Systems Engineering: Evaluation & Implementation, EN-SE 2013, 578 p
- The Violinist’s Thumb, EN-SE 2014, 428 p (on genetics)
- HAPPINESS: a Very Short Introduction, EN-SE 2014, 190 p
- Genesis, IT-SE 2023, 189 p (on cosmology)
I introduce myself in more detail as a translator of specialised literature at
Översättarcentrum (in Swedish).
