Teaching of translators and courses in the CAT tool memoQ
A modern translator, especially one in specialist fields, has to work fluidly with CAT (Computer-Aided Translation) tools, terminology tools, quality-assurance and consistency-checking tools and, of course, machine translation. They work daily with many file formats, converting PDF files to manageable formats, extracting information and terms by searching in databases and comparing previously published documents – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
I’ve been teaching future translators at university level since the late 1990s – many of my former students are now my colleagues.
I offer courses in the CAT tool memoQ at the beginner and advanced level and courses in peripheral techniques such as terminology work, file management, regex, quality assurance and machine translation.
Each course is tailored to the specific group of professional translators or to a language company – and I can hold it on site or remotely.
In addition to courses, I hold target group-specific lectures on language work and translation to all kinds of groups and associations – also on site or remotely.
